该仪器为纯机械式，其结构主要由锥形轴1，拉杆3，操纵杆6，夹紧试板2等装置组成。
其原理为：将试板插入拉杆与锥形轴之间，并用夹板夹紧手握操纵杆，由前向后翻轴（使试板绕锥形轴变曲），根据试板上涂层的裂痕位置来测定其剥离性能。
